The parent party submittted an application in the name of its jailed leader, Nikos Michaloliakos, while National Dawn's application came from Michalis Yannokonas, who ran in the 2012 elections for Golden Dawn and is believed to be a member of its central committee.

Also intending on running is the Friendship, Equality and Peace party, led by Mustafa Ali Çavuş, which says it represents the "Western Thrace Turkish minority" in northeastern Greece.

The list also features newcomer Potami (River), led by Stavros Theodorakis, as well as an entry from perennial candidate Miltiadis Tzalazidis, under the 37-word title of Renewing Independent Left, Renewing Right, Renewing Pasok, Renewing New Democracy, No to War, Business Party, I Give Away Land, I Pardon Debts, I Save Lives, I Save the Wealth of the Greeks, Panagrarian Labour Movement of Greece (PAEKE). In the June 2012 election, Tzalazidis' party ran but received no votes.

All parties running in European and national elections must be approved by the Areos Pagos, which will announce its decision in this case on May 11. In previous elections, parties deemed to be opposed to the constitution, such as the monarchist National Hope party, have been banned from running. As of Tuesday, the following parties have registered to contest the election, but this list is certainly expected to grow as other parties known to be seeking seats file their applications.
